I was born in Ohio in 1955, but my family moved to Southern California while I was just a babe. A new business endeavor presented itself to me in 1989, so my family and I moved to Western Massachusetts - quite a change for this t-shirt and shorts boy! I run a computer support company in Springfield, MA for Solutions by Computer. Our company was recently purchased by Constellation Software out of Toronto, ON and they've been "tweaking" the company in positive ways since the purchase in June 2008. I have a beautiful wife and three grown children who make me proud every day of my life. My wife works with troubled children in a local school district. My "kids" are 33, 30, and 26 years old. Our older son is a respiratory therapist in Hartford, CT, our daughter is a biologist and zoo keeper at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, FL, and our younger son works as a manager for a regional tire and wheel store. One of the opportunities presented to me by this move was the abundance of rich trout fishing streams and rivers in the New England area. I also enjoy fishing for bluegill and bass on the local ponds. Once I decided I enjoyed fly fishing more than other types of fresh water fishing, I looked for ways to "better my game." Although there are many tutorials and classes available, one of the most successful methods for me was to get involved in the Usenet newsgroup rec.outdoors.fishing.fly, or ROFF. The information I've picked up from this group has been first rate, and I've had the pleasure of meeting several "roffians" face-to-face and learn a lot each time. I've attended only one official ROFF conclave ('clave) so far at Penns Creek in Pennsylvania, and that only for a few days. As fate and funds allow, I plan on attending as many of these as I can in the future. It is an experience I highly recommend to any fly fisher of any experience level. I used to frequent The Cigar Room in West Springfield, MA. Unfortunately, it burned down on March 27, 2008. Karin and family have decided not to reopen - very sad indeed. Nicer people and surroundings you'd be hard pressed to find. A nice new cigar lounge has opened nearby and I've just started to break it in. I enjoy many simple pleasures, mainly spending time with my wife and children, a good cigar a few times a week, golfing with my wife and sons, and as much time streamside as possible. My main hobby (obviously) is fly fishing, including fly tying. I frequent the ROFF and ROFFT (rec.outdoors.fishing.fly.tying) newsgroups, as well as ASC (alt.smokers.cigars) and CCF (Cigar Critics Forum), and contribute (?) regularly. In a past life, I collected several hundred rock and roll LP's from the '60s, '70s and early '80s. If you see something you like, let me know. Tight Lines!Tim J.
